I remember the feeling I got when I booked this trip. It all started with an email for a really cheap flight, followed by a quick check on hotel prices and then a jump to make it happen. I didn't want to give it much thought because I didn't want to change my mind. I had never done a trip solo but I was going to Savannah Georgia and it made me giddy inside.
I boarded the plane and I thought I would feel nervous being alone. Instead it gave me this exciting feeling and I had a burst of energy that I didn't expect. When I got off the plane and made my way out into the outdoor space of the airport, it was a feeling that I didn't expect. The air smelled so sweet and I felt so free. I could do whatever I wanted. There was nobody to dictate what I was doing next. So what was I doing. I called an uber to take me to the hotel. I checked in and walked inside my hotel room to relax and evaluate my time here and what I wanted to do.
The best advice that I received was from an old co-worker who told me that if I was going to travel alone as a woman that I should consider doing a group tour. This would allow me to be alone but not alone. This would also show me stuff that I might not have discovered on my own. I looked at tours and I was curious. They had solo tours and group tours and I looked into both. The solo tours were $75 and the group were $25 so I went with the group.
